MORATORIUM EXTENDED UNTIL END MARCH 2021

Dear Members

The Government has announced that the business eviction ban will be extended until the end of March 2021. You can read the government announcement here: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/business-evictions-ban-extended-until-march?

This is said to be a “final extension” to give landlords and tenants 3 months to come to an agreement on unpaid rent. This is an extension of the so-called “moratorium” on eviction for rent arrears.

It also appears that CRAR (Commercial Rent Arrears Recovery) will not be allowed until the end of March 2021.More government guidance will also be published shortly and a further announcement is also expected in the New Year.At the same time, the government has also announced a review of commercial landlord and tenant legislation.

This is YOUR chance to have YOUR say in changes to the law that will affect YOUR life and YOUR wallet. Guardians of the Arches have already been previous in consultation with the government on this issue before the pandemic started and we are not aware that any other tenant groups have been consulted. Landlords have been consulted and will take a lot of interest in changing the law to their benefit. Now is the time to make your voice heard.
